  "method": "Actual Memorial Day is the last Monday in May, hence May 25–31. For each of 15 events, average available same-year Mondays 7 and 14 days before and after the holiday. Exclude actual and standard Monday–Friday observed federal holidays, Christmas Eve, December 26 and the Friday after Thanksgiving; no Memorial Day candidate controls meet an exclusion. Overall percent difference = 100 × (sum of target births / sum of each year's control mean − 1). All 15 events have four eligible controls. Separate ±7 and ±14 comparisons have two controls per event. Calendar groups are descriptive small subsets, not estimates of a date effect. No causal inference.",
